June 21, 2007 - Excellent - The Darkness doesn't give off quite the same "this is amazing, and you absolutely must play it" vibe that Riddick did. But it also feels like a more polished game, and the base mechanics work extremely well by the time you reach the end of the single-player campaign.
June 25, 2007 - Excellent - It's difficult to find serious fault with The Darkness; while we loathe its draconian just-one-save system, it's a stunning achievement that'll keep you riveted from its startlingly realistic opening car chase to its final, epic massacre.
June 25, 2007 - Good - I'd suggest that any fan of first-person shooters needs to play this game, even though the occasional duff level, and the slightly pedestrian AI disrupts the quality at times.
June 27, 2007 - Good - The Darkness offers a fun, bloody romp through New York City. Like 2K Games's previous Xbox 360 shooter, Prey, it's a great rental, a game that delivers a fun, popcorn adventure through a sick, twisted world.
June 27, 2007 - Good - If you're a sucker for M-rated action--and really, how can you pass on a game with a human-heart-eating mechanic?--you'll definitely want to play The Darkness.
July 2, 2007 - Good - It is highly unlikely that anyone that picks this game up will be disappointed with it, unless they are operating on the mistaken impression that there is a decent multiplayer game too.
June 26, 2007 - Good - The Darkness is an ambitious game that provides an extremely unique experience. It's like a great amusement park ride: fun while it lasts.
June 25, 2007 - Good - There's a lot to like about The Darkness, even if it doesn't fully come together in the end. With so few gaming options in the summer, this is certainly a title worth buying.
June 27, 2007 - Good - Even with its faults, it's impossible to dislike The Darkness. It's such a stunningly put together game that succeeds far more often than it fails, with storytelling and direction that puts many other games to shame.
