January 6, 2012 - Excellent - Even if the idea of vehemently tossing around oblong objects sickens you, give NFL Blitz a whirl. It's a digestible version of football that even the biggest sports cynic can enjoy. And, in the unlikely event you don't have a good time, the typical game only lasts around 15 minutes, so your stint in hell is at least guaranteed to be brief. Assuming you're a crazy person who doesn't like having fun, of course.
January 6, 2012 - Good - With NBA Street being MIA for the past five years, NFL Blitz has solidified itself as the current king of the "over the top sports genre." This package boasts an impressive amount of features for a downloadable title, and provides a slew of nostalgic fun when paired with an eager partner.
January 16, 2012 - Good - Blitz has been resurrected for the modern age, and though it lacks some of the happy buoyancy of its reborn sister game NBA Jam, it's still solid.
January 27, 2012 - Good - Blitz was always meant to be played with friends in the same room, and by bringing back all of the fast-paced thrills of the old games, EA has not only evoked nostalgia, but rekindled ancient rivalries and their attendant arcane rules.
January 13, 2012 - Good - NFL Blitz 2012 isn't going to re-invent the way you look at football, or, in fact, the way you look at Blitz. There's not a whole lot there, and it really doesn't make any sense that they took out the fun extracurricular violence, but, in the end, it's a game you'll play every now and again and smile while you're doing it. That has to be worth $15, doesn't it?
January 9, 2012 - Good - As a casual football fan who hasn't seen more than three regular season NFL games this year, it still managed to win me over with its fast-paced action. Blitz's gameplay will seem unmistakably familiar to fans of the original, but it's still a great title to have in your library to pull out for the occasional game.
January 19, 2012 - Good - You can pile on all the extra modes you want, but if the core action is unchanged, it's hard to shake the feeling that you've done this all before. Don't expect NFL Blitz to have the same impact it did so many years ago, but this is still a satisfying way to rekindle a nostalgic flame.
January 6, 2012 - Good - While we all may long for the "good old days" of late hits and personal fouls, we'd rather have this Blitz than none at all. It's good to be back with an old friend, even if he's not quite as wild and crazy as he was back in the day.
January 18, 2012 - Good - With NFL Blitz 2012 you're going to get almost exactly what you expect...minus the price tag. There are more modes than anticipated, but the gameplay never strays from the formula. Save for updated rosters and teams, there's not much point in replacing your legacy copy of the game, but for newcomers it's an impressively fun package for a small price.
January 4, 2012 - Good - The lack of late hits and the inability to change the length of games don't take away from the fact NFL Blitz is a whole lot of fun. Compounded by the fantastic announcers and ongoing unlocks, NFL Blitz is a great sports experience folded into a downloadable package.
