November 17, 2008 - Excellent - Given the way the last few MK games have gone in terms of redesigning the core concepts of the fighting and presenting a cast of characters that weren't as memorable as the ones that debuted back in the 2D days, Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe feels like the refreshing start of a new era for Midway's fighting series.
November 17, 2008 - Good - I dig the combat in spite of itself -- for all its faults, MK vs. DCU is an oddly enjoyable distraction from "real" fighters. Its masher-friendly controls appeal to me in a casual-gamer way, and the midmatch minigames give the fights a sort of party-game vibe.
November 20, 2008 - Good - If the idea of beating the hell out of Liu Kang with Lex Luthor appeals to you and you don't mind going online for serious competition, you'll find a satisfying fighting game in this strange but enjoyable crossover.
November 17, 2008 - Good - It starts off fun, but once you've played enough rounds of Sub-Zero versus The Joker, there's not enough substance in Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe to give it the longevity of better fighting games.
November 17, 2008 - Good - As a beat-'em-up, it pales next to the complex hit systems and frame-buffering of games such as Virtua Fighter, Soul Calibur and SFIV. Approach with honest hopes, and you're unlikely to be disappointed.
November 15, 2008 - Good - In short, this game's fun, but its legs probably can't carry it beyond the whole "Wow, Batman's fighting Superman" first impression.
November 21, 2008 - Good - We had a blast playing the game here in the office, with almost everyone gathering to watch. But it is an inferior fighting game, no matter how oddly compelling it is to see two sets of fictional characters clash in such improbable circumstances.
December 3, 2008 - Mediocre - When so many other fighters, including Soul Calibur and Smash Bros., offer accessible gameplay for low-level play, while at the same time offering core gamers underlying balance and depth, we can't help feel this is yet another missed opportunity for Midway to craft a worthy Mortal Kombat.
November 17, 2008 - Mediocre - In the end, Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe is a fun weekend rental you and your comic geek friends can enjoy and then forget about. The groundwork is laid here for something truly interesting and special if a follow-up is made, but this initial outing is merely average.

December 24, 2008 - Mediocre - Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe isn't a bad game; it's just too hard to justify buying when much better titles already exist.
