Review by Tom Orry of VideoGamer

Call of Duty fans worried by the series' move to the modern age of combat can breathe a sigh of relief. Although a new setting, Call of Duty 4 is everything we've come to love about the series and continues its tradition of stunning visuals and thrilling gameplay.

Review by Hilary Goldstein of IGN

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is a fantastic game. Calling it intense may be an understatement. The overall story is standard action movie fare, but the relationships built over the short five hours of play are surprisingly strong.

Review by GameTrailers

We're a little disappointed that Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare didn't stretch the boundaries of gameplay a little more in the single-player, but fans will be ecstatic. It's absolutely relentless in its assault on the senses and never lets up until the last trigger has been squeezed.

Review by GamesRadar

If you have no interest in multiplayer whatsoever, the seven-hour singleplayer campaign here is good fun but a little lightweight, at least at full price. For everyone else, the singleplayer provides a torrent of wow-moments while the multiplayer has lasting appeal.

Review by Bryn Williams of GameSpy

It's a rarity to play a game as highly polished and as well-crafted as Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. We cannot recommend it enough and fans of the series are getting just what they've been wishing for since CoD2 released over two years ago.

Review by Jeff Gerstmann of GameSpot

The single-player campaign is over in a flash, but the high quality of that campaign and its terrific multiplayer options make Call of Duty 4 a fantastic package.

Call of Duty 4 is 2007's must buy shooter, an over the top and amazing tour de force that delivers the adrenaline charged experience action fans crave. It's easily one of the Xbox 360's must own games.

Review by Matt Keil of G4 / X-Play

Rarely does a game shine in every area and accomplish everything it sets out to do. Call of Duty 4 is unquestionably one of those rare titles.

Review by Kristan Reed of Eurogamer

Even without the vastly impressive multiplayer elements, Modern Warfare would be worth buying for its outstanding single-player campaign. It succeeds not only for being consistently spectacular, but for the way it has been crafted into something that keeps you engaged right to the very end.

Review by Ian O'Neill of Game Positive

Whether it's the stunning visuals and cinematic nature of the campaign, the unrivalled action of the intensely realistic battles, or the outstanding multiplayer experience, there's something here for everyone who loves first-person shooters.
