Critic Reviews
The following reviews are used to calculate the overall reception for this game. All applicable scores are converted to our simplified rating system based on the specifics offered by each publication or the tone of each review. You can read more about how we do this here.
January 4, 2010 - Good - If the Underdome had "merely" been a Horde mode, that may have been fine, but it's a lot more besides. It's a glimpse into the internal machinery of Pandora, a rare chance to understand where you've been, and where you want to go next.
January 6, 2010 - Good - If you prefer a normal difficulty setting in your deathmatch/co-op sessions, you might want to wait on Mad Moxxi until you're fully prepared for it. However, if you're the "come get some" type, it's definitely worth downloading. The arena-based gameplay is a lot of fun, and the presentation is excellent, like the original game and the Zombie Island chapter.
December 29, 2009 - Good - It would have been nice if Mad Moxxie lifted the level cap, but it still offers enough mayhem to make it worth the download for any Borderlands player looking for a little mindless killing.

January 8, 2010 - Mediocre - As a big fan of Borderlands, I hate to say it, but great ideas, good intentions, and a sexy NPC just aren't enough to overcome the frustration present after the beginning of Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot. This one is impossible to recommend for 10 bucks.
January 26, 2010 - Mediocre - The sheer time sink involved to best every bit of the Underdome isn't balanced out by the rewards for doing so. Players looking for a challenge will certainly get one but a feeling of accomplishment is the only thing you'll get for meeting that challenge.
January 7, 2010 - Mediocre - You don't gain experience or proficiency, the scenery doesn't change, the structure doesn't offer much variety, and there's precious little character or humor. Underdome Riot is a very narrow add-on with very limited appeal, but if you're dying for a heaping helping of pure combat, Mad Moxxi has got your fix.
January 8, 2010 - Mediocre - Unless you have a core group of three other friends and all of you have maxed out level 50 characters, I wouldn't recommend Borderlands: Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot to you. All of the style and great music in the world can't save this add-on from the fact that it had the soul of Borderlands ripped out.
January 19, 2010 - Poor - I loved Horde mode and Firefight. However, I do not even remotely like Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot. If you liked Borderlands because it was Diablo with guns, steer clear of this one.
January 6, 2010 - Poor - Everything in the Underdome is a total hassle, and that gets old fast. That you don't gain any experience points or build up more weapon proficiency while in the arenas only makes a bad situation worse, and it makes the entire experience feel pretty pointless.
