Good - In short doses Ashes is genuinely good fun, but a full on test match will do just that, taking you to the limits of human endurance. This is undeniably an accurate cricket simulation, but whether that's a curse or a gift is ultimately down to you.

Good - Timing is the governing principle behind both disciplines, as well as a meter-based catching system. Pleasingly, the more you play it the more you'll enjoy it. A well-timed Andrew Strauss four then, if not quite a full-blown Kevin Pietersen six.

Good - There's still work to be done to make bowling and fielding as satisfying as batting while the visuals could definitely do with a tart up in all departments, but otherwise this is as enjoyable a cricket game as we've yet to see.

Good - Even though there is a distinct lack of content on offer in the title, Ashes Cricket's gameplay depth more than makes up for these shortcomings and provides a gaming all-rounder in the process.

Mediocre - Hardcore fans of the cricket franchise will undoubtedly pick up this game for retail and, if they aren't as fastidious as I, may very well become enchanted by its intricacy. For beginners, however, I can only recommend that you rent it and play online.
