Critic Reviews
The following reviews are used to calculate the overall reception for this game. All applicable scores are converted to our simplified rating system based on the specifics offered by each publication or the tone of each review. You can read more about how we do this here.
February 8, 2012 - Excellent - The ideas presented in Fever would probably fit on an iOS device or portable platform than a home console, but this game is right at home on the Wii, and the console version realigns the core concept back with its original button-pressing vision.
February 22, 2012 - Excellent - Rhythm Heaven Fever is one of those games that begs to be replayed solely on the basis of its content, and how completely, peculiarly awesome it is. This is a great game at a great price for a console currently gasping gravely for games. If your Wii is still plugged into a TV-like device, Rhythm Heaven Fever is a game that demands your attention.
February 8, 2012 - Excellent - Rhythm Heaven Fever boasts a staggeringly extensive soundtrack of catchy tunes covering an array of different genres, from head-pounding rock to way-too-sweet pop, everything with a distinct Japanese style. Kicking back and listening to the music is the single biggest stress reliever when you're getting frustrated by the high difficulty.
February 22, 2012 - Good - Alan Wake's American Nightmare is about as close to a retail-caliber release as the downloadable space has seen yet. It's super polished, the combat is slick and exciting, and the presentation is top notch.
February 29, 2012 - Good - Outside of those few complaints, which have little to do with the core gameplay of Rhythm Heaven, this is an addictive, original, and often hilarious game. Some players may get frustrated by the unforgiving gameplay, and others won't get its bizarre characters and concepts. For those who don't mind a quirky challenge, Rhythm Heaven Fever is worth a shot.
February 13, 2012 - Good - Fever has its shortcomings, but it makes up for its minor flaws with originality, quirkiness, and addictive gameplay. Moments of laughter at the insane onscreen antics and involuntary humming along to the diverse tunes are pleasant side effects of this wild musical minigame ride.
February 13, 2012 - Good - RHF finds a great middle ground between the Wii's family audience and the niche group Japanese oddities like Rhythm Heaven normally attracts. If you want some light fun to enjoy between "serious" games, don't deny yourself one of the last Wii games worth your time.
February 21, 2012 - Good - It's hard not to get lost in Rhythm Heaven Fever's charming and addictive gameplay. Whether it's the relaxing bass hits of a boy kicking away balls on a date or a rockin' interview with a rambunctious wrestler, these games will undoubtedly warrant repeated plays.
February 6, 2012 - Good - Fever's failings are a true shame, as they are both obvious shortcomings with simple remedies. They hold back what is otherwise a unique and fun rhythm game. It's still a blast, even despite its flaws, but that doesn't make those flaws acceptable.
February 9, 2012 - Good - When I say Rhythm Heaven Fever doesn't quite measure up to its predecessor, please understand that's not a condemnation. I just mean it's merely wonderful instead of the most wonderful.
February 14, 2012 - Good - There is absolutely nothing casual about this game. But it's incredibly gratifying to finally nail a puzzle in the same way that it's gratifying to nail a song in DDR or a level in Patapon. Rhythm Heaven Fever, which seems to know full well how hard it's pushing you, is eventually as satisfying as it is infuriating.
