May 15, 2009 - While Punch Out!! makes for an entertaining enough solitary experience, the back-seat driving aspect makes it positively shine as a party game. There's nothing quite like having a few friends over, passing the controller around, shouting advice, and just generally bonding over some hilarious, bloodless violence.

May 30, 2009 - The new Punch-Out!! successfully recreates everything fans loved about the series without getting caught up in gimmicky motion controls or the trap of drastically altering classic gameplay to attract a new audience.

May 18, 2009 - I'm calling it right here: Punch-Out!! is destined to become one of this generation's top classics, right up there with Super Mario Galaxy. It's one heckuva peace offering for Nintendo's jilted lifers, an elaborate brainteaser for everyone who picks it up, and absolutely the best Punch-Out!! to date.

May 18, 2009 - Punch-Out!! expertly walks the line between casual punchy-punchy and "serious gamer" depth. As with all the best fighting games, it's not about seeing the end, it's about how you get there.

May 19, 2009 - Not to harp on this point too much, but save for the inclusion of Mike Tyson, I'm not sure you could expect much better from a Punch-Out!! remake. That's not to say you couldn't make an arcade-style boxing game that was deeper and longer-lasting, but then it just wouldn't be Punch-Out!!

May 21, 2009 - If you're not a fan Punch-Out!! is still worth trying, but with caution. It's approachable at first but a hard taskmaster later on, an endurance test for your nerves and temper. You know, like videogames used to be.

May 18, 2009 - Punch-Out!! is a brutal yet incredibly satisfying stroll down memory lane. The cartoonish presentation and character designs are slick and vibrant, and the controls stay faithful to the ease and responsiveness of the original.

May 20, 2009 - Punch-Out is a great update to the classic boxing franchise. Although it is largely the same game that it was more than 20 years ago, it's still fun and charming.

May 16, 2009 - In the last 15 years a lot of games have tried to replicate the Punch-Out!! formula, but all have failed until now. It's disappointing that the motion controls are more a novelty than an effective way to play, but the personality, nostalgic nods, hidden goodies, and battle-tested, edge-of-your-seat gameplay demonstrate that some things never go out of style.

May 15, 2009 - Punch-Out!! on the Wii is a fantastic recreation of the NES original and retains every element that makes the game one hell of a challenge and insanely addictive.

May 26, 2009 - If you've been waiting most of your life for a visually upgraded Punch-Out!! that plays just as you remember it from the NES and SNES, your dreams have been answered. This is exactly that, and packed full of the kind of charm you'd expect from a Nintendo product.
