Critic Reviews
The following reviews are used to calculate the overall reception for this game. All applicable scores are converted to our simplified rating system based on the specifics offered by each publication or the tone of each review. You can read more about how we do this here.
August 20, 2009 - Excellent - Bit.Trip Core looks and sounds outdated, but it's a far more interesting and stylish evolution of the rhythm genre than the relentless guitar and karaoke sequels.
Matt Williamson
August 27, 2009 - Excellent - On the outside this may look like just another flavor of Bit.Trip Beat, but don't let that sway you. Even though artist Gaijin used the same colors of paint on their canvas, the result is wonderfully different.
July 27, 2009 - Good - Bit.Trip Core is much better than Bit.Trip Beat, even though their gameplay is very similar, Core obviously shows how much improvement has been made. While it becomes increasingly difficult too quickly for my taste, I can see skilled players having a ball with Core.
Thomas Wilde
August 11, 2009 - Good - It takes you about three seconds to learn how to play it and it takes quite a few mistakes before you hit a game over, but this is a remarkably intense, challenging game.
July 9, 2009 - Good - If you've got 600 Wii points to spare and are looking for a challenge that will keep you and your friends coming back for more, you will be hard-pressed to do better than Bit.Trip Core.
July 6, 2009 - Good - Core is fun, original, and downright trippy; it just doesn't bring too much innovation to the overall Bit.Trip family.
Bryan Roush
August 26, 2009 - Good - Bit.Trip.Core is a fun and challenging game, especially for only 600 Wii Points. It feels like there are some missed opportunities in the title, but it is fun to play.
September 17, 2009 - Mediocre - Fail to hit blips and the colour drains and the music dies. You can save yourself, but you're doomed without the rhythm. This continues until you lose, then you do it all over again. A one bit.trick pony, but decent eye-melting fun.
