Critic Reviews
The following reviews are used to calculate the overall reception for this game. All applicable scores are converted to our simplified rating system based on the specifics offered by each publication or the tone of each review. You can read more about how we do this here.
February 16, 2012 - Excellent - This is an amazingly full-featured conversion of the console version of Capcom's over-the-top fighting game, packed with a ridiculous number of characters from the Marvel and Capcom universes.
February 29, 2012 - Excellent - If you want to fight with people while you're out and about, there's no better option - on any platform. Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom sets the bar extremely high and comes with a hearty NZGamer.com recommendation.
February 13, 2012 - Good - If you're a fighting game enthusiast who enjoyed the console version Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and have dreamed about being able to take it anywhere, this game is a dream come true.
February 10, 2012 - Good - This is the most hardcore of games arriving intact on what's shaping up to be the most hardcore of handhelds and right now, it's one of the best testaments to the power and potential of the Vita.
February 13, 2012 - Good - Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is best suited for two types of Vita users - those obsessed with the series who can't tolerate having it out of arms reach, or anyone looking for a good fighter who hasn't played it yet. If you've even spent a single night with Capcom's comic crossover, you've already experienced everything the old workhorse has to offer.
February 24, 2012 - Good - Just like on consoles, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 for the Vita may feel inviting at first, but when you sink a little deeper, you discover a game in which victory and defeat hinge on a fine line. It's a high-risk, high-reward system that buries you in a brightly colored light show at the slightest misstep. This game makes a graceful transition to the handheld space while retaining everything from the console version.
February 13, 2012 - Good - Portable fighters have certainly come a long way since the days of the Game Boy. The Vita has erased the gap between handhelds and the PS3. Now it's up to Capcom to show us that they have more offer than pure portability.
February 22, 2012 - Good - As far as the genuine Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 experience goes, compromise isn't something that longtime fighting game fans have to worry about in this well-handled port.
February 13, 2012 - Good - Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is a fast-paced, well playing fighter that makes few concessions on the Vita. While the game's modes are pretty sparse and the new touch mode is a dud, there's still a lot to be excited about if you're a fighting fan with a brand new Vita.
February 13, 2012 - Good - Even with the trouble I had pulling off combos, and the frustration of feeling lost and alone in the lobby, I still think this is an amazing port in many respects. Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is a game I would consider far too flashy to fit on a handheld, and Capcom accomplished it. It bodes very well for the system that Capcom got this running at 60 FPS in time for launch.
February 20, 2012 - Good - You can land a 38-hit air-ultra by tapping the screen repeatedly, but then you don't have to. UMVC3 is an accomplished fighter on handheld and offers more than enough content to keep you playing a while - though it's not as deep as the competition.

February 8, 2012 - Good - Combo master or button-masher, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 has got you covered. [It's] a beautiful beat-'em-up that even outshines its big brother.
February 21, 2012 - Good - The exciting console fighting game Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 makes a smooth transition to the Vita, featuring bright visuals and great action despite some questionable touch controls. [...] Although the game doesn't deliver anything special for Vita, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is a strong early title for the young handheld.
