Critic Reviews
The following reviews are used to calculate the overall reception for this game. All applicable scores are converted to our simplified rating system based on the specifics offered by each publication or the tone of each review. You can read more about how we do this here.
March 13, 2012 - Excellent - BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend features a complex and strategic fighting system, but has the common decency to teach you how to use it properly. If fighting games have intimidated you in the past, this could be the one for you.
February 21, 2012 - Good - BlazBlue is a game of precision and timing that demands the perfect port - here it gets one. We're yet to review the cross-play feature, but we know we'll be fighting PS3 owners on equal terms.
February 14, 2012 - Good - Wading through BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend's massive vocabulary and doubly complex battle systems will demand time and patience from any gamer. But the cast powering this engrossing fighter makes all the effort worthwhile, and the huge variety of modes dresses up play in different ways.
February 27, 2012 - Good - While the online play would certainly benefit from more options, the breadth of single-player content is hard to overlook. Combining that with an extreme willingness to accommodate even the newest of newcomers -- right down to those who don't know a health bar from a power meter -- Blazblue: Continuum Shift Extend offers a comprehensive and satisfying package.
February 20, 2012 - Good - It's the total package of Blazblue so far, and it works pretty damn well on Vita too. There's no great leaps for the series and it doesn't take huge advantage of the hardware's unique features, but it's still very bloody good.
February 21, 2012 - Good - If you dipped into the previous BlazBlue outings on PSP or 3DS and didn't gel with them, there isn't anything here to change your mind. But if you're a fan of BlazBlue's showy, combo-heavy combat then the increased fidelity of the visuals, Unlimited Mars mode, and adequate online features are enough to justify a purchase on Vita.
