Critic Reviews
The following reviews are used to calculate the overall reception for this game. All applicable scores are converted to our simplified rating system based on the specifics offered by each publication or the tone of each review. You can read more about how we do this here.
November 8, 2010 - Excellent - EA really have cracked it this time. For anyone without a PC, The Sims 3 is the perfect port and it's a great introduction to the franchise for anyone who enjoys the comfort of a sofa for their god-playing. The developers need to be commended for their efforts and if you like sandbox games, this is unmissable.
October 26, 2010 - Excellent - Fans have spent years attempting to impose their own will on the game by using cheats or deleting ladders from the pool, and Karma is a way of turning that into an aspect of gameplay. And while it's not necessarily a reason to bin your PC copy, it's refreshing to see that madness developed into a natural part of the game.
November 6, 2010 - Excellent - If you've been put off by lackluster The Sims ports in the past - as I have - I would definitely urge you to check out The Sims 3 on consoles. It's a really great port that doesn't sacrifice much in the transition, and it's going to be a lot of fun for anyone who hasn't already played the PC version.
November 9, 2010 - Good - You can't review a Sims game so much by its features as by the stories that you end up telling about it. On consoles, at heart, it's the same rewarding, anecdote-rich and very personal experience as it ever was. If you've got the option, then the PC version is still the one to go for, but in every significant way, this is just as good.
January 11, 2011 - Good - It's a dreamy experience, both slapstick and serene. No one's understanding of video games can be truly complete without some experience of it. The console version of The Sims 3 is a workable, but inconvenient port of this wonderful experience. It's not ideal, but The Sims 3 is a game that can work its magic even in unideal settings.

November 30, 2010 - Good - It's wonderful that console players of The Sims can finally enjoy the game in nearly the exact same way as their PC gamer counterparts. The gameplay hasn't changed at all and in fact was improved with the added Karma Powers and Challenge features.
October 25, 2010 - Good - The Sims 3 may not be the perfect fit for consoles, but it's hard to deny the attraction. As annoying as the loading times and frequent pauses are, there is something indelibly rewarding about controlling the lives of these delightful goofballs.
October 29, 2010 - Good - With some minor performance problems and the limited world, this title lacks some replayability right out of the gate. However, if it's a title EA supports with downloadable content like they do with the PC version, Sims 3 could have a promising future. The PC title is still superior, but if you can't see that version in your future, the console port is worth your time.
October 27, 2010 - Good - It's utterly bizarre how enthralling the completely banal life of a tiny fake person can be, but it is. Finally [there is] a proper version of The Sims on console and a proper chance to "accidentally" kill our little people. Recommended.
