The following reviews are used to calculate the overall reception for this game. All applicable scores are converted to our simplified rating system based on the specifics offered by each publication or the tone of each review. You can read more about how we do this here.
December 2, 2008 - Excellent - With all of these ingredients -- both new and familiar -- mixed together, Prince of Persia is undoubtedly one of the year's finest games.
December 4, 2008 - Excellent - It has its shortcomings, but I already sense that Prince of Persia will be one of the few games from this generation that I carry with me for the next decade.
December 2, 2008 - Good - Some issues here and there disrupt [Prince of Persia's] goal in surpassing The Sands of Time, but it's an incredibly enjoyable journey nonetheless.
January 15, 2009 - Good - Prince of Persia is an interactive extension of what good fiction tries to be, and while it's not for everyone, it can often leave you with a desire to come back for more.
December 2, 2008 - Good - While its lack of challenge may lull fans, its ease of use will delight newcomers and draw in anyone who appreciates a touch of magic.

December 3, 2008 - Good - The fact that Elika literally won't let you die could make things feel too easy and auto-piloted for some die-hard hardcore players. But we didn't mind, and would still recommend Prince of Persia to everyone - it's too good, too beautiful, and too charismatic to pass up.
December 2, 2008 - Good - Prince of Persia is a well-made product with production values to die for. But as an interactive experience, some conscious design and gameplay decisions will lesson the enjoyment for experienced players.
December 3, 2008 - Mediocre - Prince of Persia is a disappointment because the game has a lot going for it but all in disparate elements that don't feel fully fleshed out and don't blend together despite the amazing visual splendor that wraps it all up.
