Critic Reviews
The following reviews are used to calculate the overall reception for this game. All applicable scores are converted to our simplified rating system based on the specifics offered by each publication or the tone of each review. You can read more about how we do this here.
March 11, 2008 - Good - Lost Planet for the PS3 is a decent shooter with plenty of fun moments, but it's not a shining example of how to do a console-to-console port.
February 28, 2008 - Good - [Lost Planet is] a decent enough shoot-em-up - and the multiplayer is good, letting you fight both on-foot and in Vital Suits. But it doesn't have enough new ideas or a sharp enough aiming system, while the story lacks depth. It's a Capcom game at heart - but time has thawed its fresh appeal.
March 4, 2008 - Mediocre - Online, it's fast, fun, addictive, and balanced, unlike the offline story mode and its overly cheesy boss fights. Whether the sum total of all this game's disparate parts and problems equals a purchase is up to you.
March 13, 2008 - Mediocre - Fans of first-person shooters will likely find issues with the game's controls and slower pacing, and the PS3 game is not a smooth port of the Xbox 360 version.

May 27, 2008 - Mediocre - With plenty of better polished shooters already on the market, Lost Planet: Extreme Condition fails to make another splash on a marketplace that once welcomed it with open arms.
February 29, 2008 - Mediocre - When we reviewed the 360 version of Lost Planet a year ago, we liked it and gave it good marks. Since then, multiplayer options have gotten better, graphics technology has moved on. Releasing a shoddy PS3 port a year late isn't taking a risk; it's taking advantage.
February 26, 2008 - Mediocre - If you're looking to play this game, you might be better served on one of the other systems than the PS3 version.
February 26, 2008 - Mediocre - Lost Planet: Extreme Condition feels like a hardened old-skool title wrapped up in some lavish next-gen visuals that have unfortunately lost much of their sparkle in the port to PS3.
March 3, 2008 - Poor - You'd think after a year of being on the market, Lost Planet: Extreme Condition would've been spectacular for the PS3. Instead, the slowdown is shoddy; the gameplay is still weak; the multiplayer shorts out and the graphics don't carry that current-gen zest, unlike most of Capcom's games.
