Review by Ivan Sulic of IGN

This is a title that features uninteresting environments, obtuse action, sloppy platforming, an absurd storyline, and arbitrary enemy encounters that were implemented simply because a space-like void would have resulted from their omission.

Review by Benjamin Turner of GameSpy

All told, it's hard to recommend Nanobreaker as anything more than a rental. It's a tweaked, less attractive version of Lament of Innocence without the saving grace of being a Castlevania game, a B title that turned out to be a C.

Review by Robert Workman of GameDaily

This is just a huge disappointment all around, from the lackluster design to the poorly coordinated sound parts to the uninventive gameplay.

Review by Tom Bramwell of Eurogamer

There's no end of things wrong with Nanobreaker. It's one of those games that seems to be actively trying to bore or frustrate you at every turn, and it's so charmless and poorly designed that it makes you wonder whether it was just that nobody had the heart to say anything.

Review by 1UP

In the end, it's a definite thumb-basher, and not necessarily the worst game of its kind. It's just that the pedigree of the developer's past works suggests that NanoBreaker would turn out much better than it did, and that's a disappointment.

No matter how hard you look, you won't be able to scrounge up much of anything to like about Nano Breaker.
