The following reviews are used to calculate the overall reception for this game. All applicable scores are converted to our simplified rating system based on the specifics offered by each publication or the tone of each review. You can read more about how we do this here.
February 15, 2005 - Mediocre - In the end, it's a definite thumb-basher, and not necessarily the worst game of its kind. It's just that the pedigree of the developer's past works suggests that NanoBreaker would turn out much better than it did, and that's a disappointment.
Alex Navarro
February 15, 2005 - Mediocre - No matter how hard you look, you won't be able to scrounge up much of anything to like about Nano Breaker.
Benjamin Turner
February 14, 2005 - Mediocre - All told, it's hard to recommend Nanobreaker as anything more than a rental. It's a tweaked, less attractive version of Lament of Innocence without the saving grace of being a Castlevania game, a B title that turned out to be a C.
Tom Bramwell
March 1, 2005 - Poor - There's no end of things wrong with Nanobreaker. It's one of those games that seems to be actively trying to bore or frustrate you at every turn, and it's so charmless and poorly designed that it makes you wonder whether it was just that nobody had the heart to say anything.
Robert Workman
February 22, 2005 - Poor - This is just a huge disappointment all around, from the lackluster design to the poorly coordinated sound parts to the uninventive gameplay.
Ivan Sulic
February 15, 2005 - Poor - This is a title that features uninteresting environments, obtuse action, sloppy platforming, an absurd storyline, and arbitrary enemy encounters that were implemented simply because a space-like void would have resulted from their omission.
