Andrew Pfister
November 19, 2007 - Good - Painkiller sequel Overdose is gloriously and unapologetically old, drawing obvious influence from the genre's tenured professors: Doom, Quake, Unreal Tournament.
Brett Todd
November 2, 2007 - Good - This stand-alone Painkiller expansion is pure, stupid fun, despite slow loads and an utter lack of innovation.
Gord Goble
November 27, 2007 - Good - Ultimately, hardcore shooting fans with a taste for that semi-stupor brought on by incessant gunplay and bloodletting will devour what Painkiller has to offer and come back for seconds.
December 14, 2007 - Mediocre - They say an overdose is usually a cry for attention. This is one you can safely ignore without feeling guilty.
Steven Wong
November 12, 2007 - Mediocre - The graphics and gameplay feel like they were grabbed out of yesteryear in more ways than one, but it delivers exactly what people expect from a Painkiller game, and not a single thing more.
December 12, 2007 - Mediocre - Take a dated game engine and add in some dated, unrefined gameplay and you've pretty much got Painkiller: Overdose in a nutshell. The original was mindlessly fun, but Overdose is just mindless.
Michael Pugliese
November 27, 2007 - Poor - With so many viable shooter alternatives available this quarter, it's extremely difficult to overlook the glaring flaws that litter Painkiller: Overdose.
Tom Francis
November 5, 2007 - Poor - It successfully recaptures Painkiller's central appeal: there are plenty of gratifyingly weak enemies, there's a distinct knack to each weapon and it's super-fast to switch between them.
