Critic Reviews
The following reviews are used to calculate the overall reception for this game. All applicable scores are converted to our simplified rating system based on the specifics offered by each publication or the tone of each review. You can read more about how we do this here.
February 10, 2012 - Good - Finding myself a little bored with my Battlefield 3 matches, GCI provides a wonderful change of pace, and others who fondly remember the more varied world of shooters pre-Call of Duty 4 will likely feel the same. I know I'll try to convince my friends to make the switch.
February 27, 2012 - Good - While Impostors is a blast to play for a good several hours at least, it lacks those few rudimentary building blocks that gives PC games the types of communities that last for years. It's unfortunate, too, because this game deserves better.
February 13, 2012 - Good - Some players might find all the options overwhelming or the combat too fast paced, but anyone looking for something different within the genre should find a lot to like.

February 10, 2012 - Good - The action is fast-paced, the combat is smooth, and the new twists on familiar FPS tropes really do make Gotham City Impostors a game worth playing. Even if it is just to pretend to be a backyard Batman for a few nights.
February 11, 2012 - Good - Gotham City Impostors shows how far a clear sense of personality and humor can take you even when you're making the same old style of game.
February 10, 2012 - Good - Gotham City Impostors is a functional shooter with a sense of humor and a Batman license. It's got plenty to unlock, but it's not all that deep. Go, shoot, win. Over and over. If you're looking for a first-person shooter that doesn't take itself seriously, have at it, but don't expect a FPS revolution.

April 6, 2012 - Good - There's little way for a community to form around the game - and unless that's rectified, then there's little long-term hope for Gotham City Imposters. Which is a shame, because it's fun.
February 9, 2012 - Mediocre - Gotham City Impostors offers a minimum of substantive content - maps, in particular - and a maximum of unlockables that put unrealistic demands for grinding next to a 'buy now' button. It is possible, apparently, to reach character level 1000 in this. I cannot imagine it. The gadget-enabled shooter at the heart of Gotham City Impostors is fun, smart, and hard to dislike. But it's impossible to recommend.
February 9, 2012 - Mediocre - Gotham City Impostors isn't a free-to-play shooter, but it sure feels like one. Even as a $15 purchase, it's a game that's as eager to get you into its cash shop as its paltry five maps, with one of the slowest character customization systems ever to be unlocked by DLC, and matchmaking so poor that getting into a full 6v6 game actually feels like an achievement.
