Critic Reviews
The following reviews are used to calculate the overall reception for this game. All applicable scores are converted to our simplified rating system based on the specifics offered by each publication or the tone of each review. You can read more about how we do this here.
July 21, 2005 - Good - Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil essentially does what we expect from any decent expansion pack, giving us more of the good stuff, eliminating some of the lame stuff, adding cool new stuff, and making everything a bit tougher for those who made it all the way through Doom 3.
April 19, 2005 - Good - If you were in the camp that loved Doom III for what it was, warts and all, then you should definitely treat yourself to this well-rounded episode.
April 4, 2005 - Good - When it comes down to it, anyone who enjoyed Doom 3 should have an equally good time playing through its first expansion.
Sal Accardo
April 4, 2005 - Good - The presentation and story aren't quite as elaborate as DOOM 3, and things bog down a little in the second half, but the new weapons and gadgets provide a nice boost to the core gameplay.
Tom McNamara
April 4, 2005 - Good - If the rather basic AI and constant traps and monster closets didn't bother you much in Doom 3, you'll probably get a kick out of RoE.
April 19, 2005 - Mediocre - Just like with Doom 3, RoE works best if you're afraid of the dark, but sadly most of us have outgrown that fear long ago.
