Matt Peckham
October 7, 2006 - Excellent - At $20, this just may be the finest piece of "budgetware" ever produced, with every bit as much to offer strategywise as RTS games three times its cost.
October 3, 2006 - Excellent - The pruned unit selection, simple relationships and fixed playing field give DEFCON more in common with chess than most RTS games. It's not a game to get lost in for hours on end, but it is one you'll get the urge to play again and again for months to come.
Andy Young
November 10, 2006 - Excellent - It could be argued that the appeal is limited, as after all, there is only one map to play on. But due to shifting alliances and perceived threats, the game never fails to feel anything but completely fresh.
October 2, 2006 - Good - [DEFCON's] failings of scope are easily forgiven at the impressively well-judged price Introversion has chosen.
April 13, 2007 - Good - If you want to try something different, relive a style from yesteryear, or laugh manically while crushing enemies under your nuclear strong arm, then Defcon is a must play.
Steven Wong
November 2, 2006 - Good - It's a challenging strategy game that doesn't require the player to memorize a lot of complex controls, proving that maybe the end of the world isn't such a horrible thing after all.
October 10, 2006 - Good - Even though the main source of inspiration for Defcon is more than 20 years old, and Cold War paranoia is a thing of the past, the game feels disturbingly relevant, and much like developer Introversion's past work, Uplink: Hacker Elite and Darwinia, there's truly nothing else quite like it today.
October 20, 2006 - Good - DEFCON's a great example of how a few simple concepts can be combined to make something that's incredibly interesting and pleasantly complicated.
