February 19, 2009 - Good - [Dragon Quest V is] a game that boasts an indisputable wider significance - but today, it's worthwhile primarily because it's a joyfully innocent fable, albeit one whose impact lies in the telling more than in the tale.

March 11, 2009 - Good - The difference between Dragon Quest V: The Hand of the Heavenly Bride and many other tepid RPG pretenders is the way the game moves. It's always taking the player someplace new and novel - from the deck of a tall ship to the dark halls of a haunted castle the scenery changes just often enough to keep the player interested.

February 27, 2009 - Good - If you haven't experienced a Dragon Quest title before now, this is the game to begin with.

February 13, 2009 - Good - Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride's gorgeous presentation, cleverly designed plot, and fun monster taming system create an addictive, thrilling adventure.

February 11, 2009 - Good - Dragon Quest V is a must-play RPG, pure and simple. By extension, that means that Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride is also a must-play RPG, though I can't help but wish we were getting it sooner than 17 years late, and with a bit more fanfare and polish.

March 13, 2009 - Good - If you love early 90s JRPGs, or loved The Chapters of the Chosen, then you'll be fine, and will easily sink a good 30 hours of your life into the game.
