December 14, 2011 - Good - With no rivals on the platform, Tales of the Abyss didn't have to be spectacular to stand out - but even when the JRPG heavyweights get their inevitable 3D outings, Namco's charming and witty cult offering will still be worth playing.

November 28, 2011 - Good - For those who have already played the game on the PS2, it's harder to recommend a repeat purchase when the central new feature actively makes the game worse. Nonetheless, it's an enjoyable, engrossing RPG with plenty of content and is worth a look if you've never played it before.

February 14, 2012 - Good - If you're specifically looking for a portable RPG for the 3DS - and let's face it, there isn't much in that particular niche right now - Tales of the Abyss is a fine choice, and all the better if you haven't played it before. Just make sure to keep the 3DS battery charged, because a 40 hour quest is going to take a lot of juice.

February 14, 2012 - Good - It's impressive that Namco-Bandai has managed to port a full-sized, voice-acted Japanese RPG to the 3DS without sacrificing any of the content from the PlayStation 2 version. But it's also a six-year-old game that hasn't aged well in all respects, and if you're a North American Tales fan, it's likely to be one you've played before.
