Critic Reviews
The following reviews are used to calculate the overall reception for this game. All applicable scores are converted to our simplified rating system based on the specifics offered by each publication or the tone of each review. You can read more about how we do this here.
February 10, 2012 - Good - While it's still not ideal, Mario and Sonic At the London 2012 Olympic Games 3DS is at least a better effort than the Wii version. The wider range of events and the story mode do a much better job of 'selling' the Olympics and London to youngsters and while we just wish everything had more meat on its Dry Bones, it's still the best offering for junior gamers excited about the Olympics.
February 23, 2012 - Good - Once you've played each of the events a few times, you'll most likely not be very eager to play them again. However, before that happens Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games is plenty of fun, and for kids as well as grown-ups.
February 28, 2012 - Mediocre - It's a mostly smart translation to the small 3D screen, but while Mario & Sonic's Olympic escapades in London are functional and full of characters, they're lacking in personality and long-term appeal.
February 14, 2012 - Mediocre - Acquiring medals, ranking your best scores globally and earning medals can be very addicting. But only half of these games are worth playing. Most are simply shallow attempts at their counterparts, which is more or less what this version of the London Olympic Games ends up being.
